I guess I missed the 'nerd' thread, but the fact that some people still think being a 'nerd' means you're always some stereotypical person is strange to me. My best friend was a huge nerd in school (and so was I). He studied a lot, played a ton of video games (still does, actually), knew all kinds of random math facts and had a lot of 'typical' markers of a nerd.
Now, he works for the government handling boatloads of money, he runs a sub-19 minute 5k for fun, spearfishes every weekend, has a huge house and no debt, and a family that adores him.
There are a lot of tropes that 'oh, Bill Gates makes more than Michael Jordan,' and everything else; but I'm here to tell you; if my kid is healthy and happy and wants to be a 'nerd' or a 'gamer' or anything else, they've got my blessing.
....as long as they aren't a vegetarian.

Just kidding. I am not in this one.
Oh YEAH! And I play a game called Clash of Clans on my phone with a bunch of grown men from TBH!
I'll start you a dragon for raiding though!

The funny thing about gaming is that was something nerds did back in the day. But back in the day, games were played on computers and you had to be smart to know how to use them. Now, those nerds have brought computers to the masses and gaming has no coorelation with nerdism/geekism. Comics has also morphed from what it was 20 years or more ago... (although I was never into comics.)

There still seem to be some that want to give wedgies, throw the football over them there mountains, and make fun of people.
I remember back like fifteen years ago, I went to a football game with a girl I was seeing at my old high school, and the same group of jocks and their harem were hanging out. I was always in the B group I would say. I wasn't nerdy enough to really get bullied, but I wasn't in the cool kids group. Anyway, they were all still there, making the same jokes at the same people's expense. I realized at that point that some people move up, and some people stay right where they are.
