    Love it!

Most of the old fellas I grew up hunting with would be calling people who sit on a computer talking about hunting instead of out doing it, a bunch of nerds!

Well said. I am a gamer and do all the outdoor stuff I can when I can. Just hope your "nerdy kids" become my boss so they can take me hunting

It's all about balance--not total immersion in one hobby/pasttime.

Now, those nerds have brought computers to the masses and gaming has no coorelation with nerdism/geekism. Comics has also morphed from what it was 20 years or more ago... (although I was never into comics.)
In my day, it was D&D. Many of my HS friends really got into that game. I was always too busy hunting or fishing.

LOL, me too until one day I realized one of them had a hot sister that played. I started hanging around lil more then.

Thank you for this. I took particular offense at that thread because as a nerd and the proud father of a nerd, it felt like an attack on me and my family.

I'm proud to be a dork that plays computer games and plays them with my son. Yet we still hunt/fish and spend time in the outdoors.

                    Balance is key.

But judging some kids because they are talking about the backstory to some comic characters is uncalled for.

That backstory they were talking about started in 1939 and was worth 125 million dollars in 2007 before the movies became huge, imagine what its worth now.

                    Nerds rule.

Guess that's why I didn't do too much dating in HS. I was always in the woods or on the lake.

I'm honestly surprised that thread ruffled enough feathers to garner a response.

I'm not really surprised because I'm pretty sure there are a lot of people on here that at some point in their life were/are the "nerd".

TBH really opened my eyes to people. Growing up in an extremely rural area I use to be the one that made fun of the "city folk and suit wearers". After a while on here, I was really surprised at how many "city folk" (live in Dallas, Houston, Austin...) loved the outdoors and hunting as much as I do. Hopefully, being a little slower to comment about people until I actually know them these days.
