Not a problem. I know RR Donuts is a for sure stop, especially for the trip out of town. Gonna need fuel for the road!

Drive 10'minutes to Hutto and have some Texan cafe... Or downtown hall of fame message me if you get lost in the sprawling downtown of hutto...

And for what it's worth, I had salt lick out by the ball park last week, and was far from impressed. And I'll second Mesa Rosa for Tex mex

First stop at round rock donuts. Don't come to round rock and not try them. Ill have to say chuys is very good as well. Round rock doesn't have many BBQ places. Rudy's isn't bad. Since the co-driver hasn't been to Texas I would drive somewhere else to give him a good first experience for Texas BBQ, drive out to Taylor and eat at Louie muellers.

                .

Chuys for Texmex or torchys something little diff but still really good queso is awesome. Mesa rosa is good too.
Louisiana longhorn downtown good Cajun. I think gumbos moved to georgetown.
Of course RR donuts. Just get glazed and choc cover glazed.

The best Mexican food in RR is Juarez Restaurant and Bakery and it ain't close. It is a small family place where I was often the only gringo.

Casa Garcia is more gringo Tex Mex, but not bad.

The best restaurant in RR is Sichuan Garden by Sprouts at 620 and 35. House Special Crispy Spicy Chicken if you like spicy and Jasmine Tea Smoked duck are both awesome. Sichuan cuisine is still not particularly prevalent in the US and this place is as good as anywhere in the country.

Rudy's, unfortunately, is probably the best BBQ. Drive to Taylor for Louie Muellers is good advice.

Been in Round Rock for 20 years now. Here are my opinions on the matter.

                            Mexican food:
Rio Grande, either in Round Rock or Hutto
                            Casa Garcias

                            Breakfast:
Lone Star Bakery aka Round Rock Donuts
Tio Dan Puffy Taco for breakfast tacos

                            Burgers:
                            Moonies in Cedar Park
                            Mighty Fine

                            Bar Scene:
Juniors in downtown has live music on the weekends and is a cool place to hang out.

                            BBQ:
As someone else said, Rudys is probably the best BBQ in Round Rock.
                            Saltlick is not bad

i second jack allens and chuys, get the tres leches...rio grande is good as well and rudys for bbq just make sure you get the moist brisket....
chuys, rudys, and jack allens are all right next to each other....oh and la margarita is good Mexican right down the access road from chuys.
And all these are across the highway from rr doughnuts

downtown (mainstreet) has several good places to eat and grab a beer. Louisiana Longhorn to eat and brass tap to drink.

....I was born an raised in the circle rock and still live here.

La Margarita is a good texmex as well as dos salsas.

Salt lick bbq is just off of hwy 79 by the Dell Diamond.
