What's the best way to remove varnish from a fuel tank ? My dad gave me four old lanterns that I want to rebuild. The one that I want to start with is a 290 model. But it has had half a tank of fuel in it for who knows how long.Comment

Try the fuel that's in there. If it smells good.
You might be surprised.
I have an old stove that was stored for 8-10 yrs.. Put a pump kit in it, and it fired right up.Comment

Hey Timm. That lantern is the 1963 220E that I got from you. It is the one we had hanging in front of the wall tent at our elk camp last year. It burns good at high altitude.
