I know this is a QUITER'S ONLY thread... But you guys are a lot stronger and better men than me! I have been dipping Cope since I was 8 (I'm 34 now) and I can't seem to shake this thing. I have tried the patches and that herbal snuff and just tried having something in my mouth to take the snuff's place and can't seem to stop. My wife would surely be greatfull if I quit, but man alive, I am a mean S.O.B when I try to quit. I guess maybe I don't have the determination. What is/are the "tricks" to this? HELP!!!! PM or email me @ bpsdaddy@gmail.com. I could use all the help I can get and my family would appreciate it! Thanks, Brian.

Hi, I'm Keith and yes I'm a quitter! I had a pretty nasty Cope habit for around 23 years, but quit on January 22, 2006. I had lots of support from all the great people on TBH.

Skoal wintergreen long cut was my demon for a lot of years. Like Jerp, I had THE DREAM that I had been diagnosed with something bad and it scared me, so with the help of God and science (Chantix) I quit last January.

I just couldn't let my family down. My sons of all people were after me to quit, and that's bad. TBH and support from fellow bowhunters helped immensely.

I quit last week! After almost 20 years (since I was 13 or 14), of dipping and chewing tobacco products.

I have quit before, but I usually blow it after a month or two. Hopefully this time will be different. My wife and I are trying to have a kid and I want to be around to see them live their life.

39 years ago, quit cold turkey from a 2 pack a day habit. When the time is right and you make up your mind, you can do it.

I'm a quitter! I quit in 1985 cold turkey from a 3 pack a day habit. The power of my God is an awesome thing.

layed it down almost a month now.

i have fought some cravings by destracting myself and finding something else to do or think about. like anything i guess (junk food, sodas, etc.), if you remove it from the equation long enough, it doesn't become a desire. I have also found that if i use the pay at the pump option instead of paying inside, i don't have to look at the tobacco wall and have the temptation. also, it's nice not having the wife nag at me all the time! but the main thing is, that is very obvious in these threads, YOU HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT. i tried while my wife was bugging me about it and i found that i dipped more then, but when i finally decided that i wanted to, then it has been a lot easier.

my hat is off to you fellas who are "long time quitters"! please keep us new quitters in your thoughts and prayers, not only for quitting, but for patients also. these first few weeks are crazy hard and i know, i have been a bear some days.

thanks in advance and good luck to all our quitters!

For you young pups = aside from the obvious health reasons, from a female's prespective, dipping is JUST AS NASTY as smoking! It stinks, makes your teeth look like you got bugs in them and come on those dip cups,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.
That's part of why I quit. I don't really even think of myself as a "quitter" at this point because I haven't dipped in about 25 years. Also, I didn't do it very long compared to most people. Only had the habit for three or four years before I gave it up. But, even with that relatively short habit, I craved it for several years afterwards, especially if I ever smelled it, like someone opening a can of it near me. It's darn addictive stuff.
