The small red worms from any bait store will pull them out one after another. I know a guy that fishes argosy tournaments and this is how he catches them.

Crickets or small red worms on a little hook. Use an aerator to keep them alive for the flat heads and cut them for channel cats. Cast nets work really well in small creeks for bream also but it's illegal in some states. NC you could only fish with bream if caught on a hook.
