I emailed TPWD when the law took effect.
Their response was you cannot transport water from one place to another on your boat.
It is perfectly fine to bring bait caught somewhere else, but it cannot be on your boat.
You have to transport the bait in a container in your truck, then move the bait via a net into your container/live well on your boat that has been filled with water from your fishing spot.
Sounds stupid, but that was their answer.

Bottom line, you cannot transport water from one location to another.
But it's perfectly fine to move the wet fish/bait from home water to lake water or vice-versa.

That is what we were told as well. When fishing Striper tournaments we would have a bait tank in the boat and another in the back of the truck. We transported the bait from boat to truck. We used well water for the truck tank and filmed the whole process from filling the truck tank and transporting the bait just in case.

Hope you have cell service for a live jug lining thread. Never done it but would love to give it a whirl.

I'm curious as to your method of dealing with a bunch of catfish in the yak. I've built about 25 noodle floats w/ rebar in them for my son and I to use in our yaks. I've yet to decide the best way to deal with a bunch of fish in a kayak, however. Thought about strapping a plastic tub up front and throw them in that maybe. Our fish bags wouldn't hold many catfish so that's not a good option. I've also learned the hard way that fish on a stringer and paddling a yak do not belong together.

We always put reflective tape on the ends for quick spotting at night.

Sounds like a plan, will have to do that when we start up this year.

I finally got around to making up a batch of these! I used the smaller noodles and went with no weights, which I can easily ad if I decide to.
I made 40 noodles for less that $30 and that includes circle hooks and string!
Me and Mama are gonna give them a try in the morning!

Looks perfect, good luck to y'all. Planning on using mine again next weekend at Livingston. I have changed all my hooks to circle hooks since we lost a couple really nice ones last trip out.

What's the biggest fish you've caught one one of these? I'm worried a big blue or flathead could drag it off and never be seen again.

We caught a huge op (probably 25 lbs) on one. The trick was grabbing the line and swinging him into the boat quickly. He jerked the jug out of our hand twice before we boated him. A 2-3 pounder will snatch it from you too.

And then there was the day we caught an alligator on the Trinity on one, we donated that jug!

Funny this thread got pulled up today. Drove over the bridge at Martin Dies yesterday and somebody had a half dozen of these that had drifted all the way to the rocks. That was just enough to get my curiosity up and I started searching on jug fishing.
