Thanks for the ID. This is what i texted him... "If you see it again... kill it! Snake is a water moccasin. The "stubby" tail and the "bar" along the side of its head are tell tale signs. The fangs in its mouth are another clue but I wouldn't look for them unless the head is removed from the body and then only with extreme care! "

That is very possible. However i have seen them look like that and in the belly is about 8 or 9 babies.
Anyone ever seen a cotten mouth open up its mouth hiss and all the children run down their throat?

I have never even heard of this and would not believe it if i didnt see it with my own eyes.

I saw one of these spawns of satan today when I was fishing. If I wasn't in a public place I would have blown it 12-ga style.

            They can stink for sure.

BIL was fishing and tried to beat one with a boat paddle, moccasin wrapped around the paddle and it dropped into the boat.

I killed me a snake the other day, he was only 2' long and real skinny!!! Since it was non poisonous I just grabbed him and crushed his little head between my thumb and index finger!!

Glad you put a smiley face on the end of that statement. That was a really long one for sure. Beautiful snake.

No sir you are not a snake expert! There's absolutely no doubt about that being a very healthy water moccasin. The dark stripe that runs through the side of its head through the eye is unique to the species, the short fat body and body markings are also strong indicators.

This particular one is about as vivid a picture of a moccasin as you will ever see except maybe for one with its mouth open exposing the "cottonmouth" white inside and very large fangs...

You better practice up on your snake ID before you go stomping 'round our hog huntin' grounds... some bigguns out there!

He had plenty of time to take a good pic of him so that was plenty of time to lop his head off!! Hopefully he will take care of him on the 4th sighting and not get popped by the snake the next time they cross paths!

That is how I have always ID'd Cottonmouths.
