Does anyone on the GS have it? Im watching the video right now, in the process trying to get mine. For those of you that have taken it, what was the test like???

I passed the test no problem. Just pay attention to the instructors and video and get off tbh. Lol

I got the technicians license years ago. They gave me materials to study, and it was pretty easy. I'm not sure how much harder the private applicator license is, but I would just spend some time studying what they give you. I did not find any surprises on the test.

Have had a commercial applicators license for years. The tests are not bad, just study the material and you will be fine.

I had one and let it expire. They gave me a book to read and the day of the test they read the book to us and took the test. All the test is over is to see if you can read the label on the product you are using and how to fill out the form for restricted use pesticide. If you can read you can pass the test.

I dont have an instructor just watching a video on a laptop at the local extension office lol so its really hard haha extremely boring. Most of this seems like common sense stuff so far

How much does it cost to get the license? Are you able to do this all online or does it require classroom time?

$60 to watch a 3 1/2hr video on a computer at a local extension office, and then go take the test at a PSI test taking center most decent sized citys have one. Its free for the first try and $52 after that. I got all the books with my video ive heard some had to pay for theirs

I did the test last year just before they started the testing center stuff. A lot of ppe and label questions. Some at the end were plant and animal identification. Remember one question asking what method of measuring a pond for application of weed chemicals. Wasnt a hard test at all, just boring old videos

Looking at the TDA website and licensing requirements, it looks like I'd need a commercial applicators license to be able to apply fertalizers and weed killers for my lawn customers.

Commercial applicator: operates a business or is employed by a business that applies restricted-use or state-limited-use pesticides to the property of another person for hire or compensation.

o Commercial Pesticide Applicator License Fee = $180/year

Not sure it would be worth it at this point since I just started my business up a last year and have been taking it slow on acquiring new customers, but hate to take the chance that they will tighten up requirements in the coming years that would not allow me to get the license.

When I took mine about ten years ago you went to the county extension agent and payed 20 dollars for a book and they mailed you a letter with the test date.Spent half a day in reviewing the book ,took a lunch break and then took the test.

Yeah I let mine lapse because of that.
