One of my favorite things to do, head to the green belt. Lots of hiking trails and swimming spots. The creek is flowing right now. Can park at Mopac and 360. Pick up some food and fill a backpack up with some beer. Or a bottle of wine

    This man speaks the truth!

They have their own ranch where they source their beef. The place is a little hip so just focus on the food. Went there the other night for the first time and very impressed.

I disagree, the food is not all that good, but go out there for drinks and you will get the most for your money.

What side of town are you on?

For steak go downtown to III Forks. http://www.3forks.com/austin/
You can go watch the bats, eat at 3forks, the go across the street for a few drinks at the W. Will make for a nice evening out.

                  Good luck with the interview!

Flemings is the best steak in town. Austin land and cattle is also good. Jack Allen's kitchen (oak hill) has excellent food (and not too pricey).

Oasis good for drinks- but depressing to see Travis so low. Hula Hut is a fun stop if you haven't been and the weather is good. It's on lake Austin.

Rent a paddle board on ladybird one afternoon if it's sunny. You will thank me later.

Always lots of live music if that's your thing.

Folks flock to "SoCo' to wonder around and eat out of food trucks.... I don't get it. Hopdoddys is good.

Have a drink or two at the Driskill. It's an older crowd and the piano bar can be quite entertaining. Get a scoop of Shiner Bock ice cream at Amy's.

Like I said, the list can go on and on and on!!

Austin has come along way over the years, the "weird" perception is becoming a thing of the past.

                            Good luck with the interview

Thanks for all the suggestions yall. We decided to take a step back in time and act like kids again. We went to the Austin Park and Play. We did arcade games, gokarts, batting cages, mini golf, laser tag, and had all the pizza we wanted. We had a blast. Were gonna hit up 6th St early tomorrow afternoon and see what all the fuss is about. Then head to the bat bridge, and then sit down and do the fine wine and dine thing at 3 Forks.

Ive got to say.. Im an Aggie and i even like Austin. Really good restaurants, Beautiful views, unique shops and a awesome lake to fish. There are some weird people but hey if everyone was the same things would be awful boring
