These things must not be all that agile, because that beak and powerful neck is a hell of a lot scarier than an equal sized gator. They are definitely cool but also high on my animals-not-to-mess-with list.

And as far as these knuckleheads that go diving into brush to grab a dangerous animal, that kind of sensationalism got old even before Steve Irwin cashed in his karma with the stingray.

Plenty of them in the Sabine - but don't put one in your boat or the GW will have something to say about it.

The guy in the video (Coyote Peterson) sure seemed to sling that big ol turtle around pretty easy for weighing 90 lbs. That is a monster Swamphunterfw, how did you get him to smile for the picture

Those must not be as aggressive or agile as a regular 'ol snapper. I have a pic of a pretty good size regular snapping turtle here, and I promise you, if you get your hand or fingers close to this guys face, you wont like it. They can strike out quick as a snake!

Caught a few as a kid that would fit in an aquarium and saw one in San Leon that was about the size of a No 2 washtub. They can be aggressive and can reach back over their shell with their mouth. We had one in a "turtle pool" we dug in a friends back yard along with a few red ears. We didn't see it for a long time and thought it had gotten out. My friend leaned over the pond to get something and the next thing he knew that alligator snapper was hanging from his hair. It scared him and he turned them all loose and filled in the hole. He was pretty tough but he screamed like a little girl with that snapper hanging from his hair. LOL

The whole time I was watching that video I was cringing at his carelessness while handling that big boy. Not sure if he knows that big head is quick and your fingers aren't replaceable!

Caught two pretty big ones when we were kids. One in White Bayou that weight 135lbs and the Houston Zoo came and picked up for the Zoo to display

The other one we caught in Caney Creek in Bowie county. He looked twice the size as the first one. Didn't really catch him, found him in the shallow creek bed traveling between deep water holes. Held him there with a rope for a couple of hours until grandpa and other adults could see what we caught, then we left him alone.
