Read up on lawnsite.com forum. There is a homeowner section and a commercial lawn mowing section. Lots of great information. There are a couple dealers that have very unbiased opinions which is really nice.

That being said, when I was looking, Gravely reached out to me via lawnsite and offered to bring a Gravely 460 to my house for a demo. Its their top of the line mower though. I say go out and drive them and see what you think. Almost all the companies use the same parts. Each has a little different positive or negative compared to the other on design.

Bad Boy offers a lot for the money but the shortest warranty. I ended up with a Gravely 460. I got a hell of a deal on it from Outdoor World in Azle. If you are anywhere near Paris Tx or willing to drive, Retrodog on lawnsite forum owns K and G Equipment in Paris and carries 5 brands. You can test them all out there.

The big dog has the longer warranty. Seven years.

I have an SD as well. It cuts the "mixed grass" pasture of a yard I got just fine.

That said I wanted something Kawasaki powered FIRST, mower brand came next

I just bought a bad boy outlaw. I did a ton of reading on lawnsite.com and it came down to the bad boy or gravely.

Interesting.. I was going to choose between the Outlaw XP and the Gravely and ended up with the Gravely. Got the 460 for $8900 from Outdoor world in Azle.

Yes sir. I wasn't even looking at Bad Boy or Gravely until after I read up on lawnsite. I was originally looking at a Scag. After reding all the stuff from retrodog and others I changed my mind. I got the outlaw 61' deck and kawi motor out the door for 8k.

WOW!!! $8,900. That's twice what I have to spend on a mower. Thanks for sharing. This is one of the reasons I started this thread. Of course, there will always be those to whom money isn't quite as much of an object as is it for others. I say that's great. Good for y'all. However, I am not in those shoes. I'm trying to find the best bang for my buck in my budget of about $4000-4500. All this input is great.

Gravely can get ya there with a nice mower. I have had a couple different models and they all have their plus or minuses. People will always pump what they own as the best. I bought what was sold, serviceable in my area and didn't break the bank. Some times the simpler and more solid machine is the best.

LOL.. I started originally looking at 36-48" walk behind mowers like a Scag to find out they were in the $4000 range. Im a firm believer in buying things once. Buy something that is quality, take care of it and it should last. Im not rich and Im not going to lie. I financed my mower for 48 months at 0% with a $50 doc fee from Sheffield Finance. When you can borrow money that cheap, I'll keep the cash.

Looking at the 54" SD. $3600 plus tax and a 3 year warranty. Getting 10pct off. Said it would take couple weeks to get to the store though. It's gonna be a gift so I can't complain at all. Trading em that for a 42" husqvarna riding mover. Yea me!!!

This is another reason im leaning toward this particular mower. I have a dealer about 10 minutes from my house.

                                Did you buy one?
I bought the 54" Hustler SD this week. Taking some getting used to being that it's my first dealings with a Zero turn but it's a bad arse mower. I've cut grass that was knee high and the Kawasika motor never bogged a bit.
