Man it's hard to watch some of the most beautiful places get cleared for developement. To watch beautiful trees get cut down and rolling hills leveled out stings. With the population in the state booming it is what it is I suppose but hurts little more when it's such scenic places.

    I agree whole-heartedly.

Yep, I couldn't agree more. Although, as a participant in the urban sprawl, it is hard to see some of the natural areas that were once around me start to come down.

Is their a way to slow population growth nationally besides people having less kids?

Currently happening to to a property I hunt in Dripping Springs. It sucks, to be honest with you. Old homestead from the 1940's, many old houses from when the ranch was a working ranch, oak trees hundreds of years old, bad *** old fences and gates- all getting bulldozed over. What was over 1300 pristine hill country acres is now tattered with surveying sticks, flagging, brush piles, and heavy machinery. It makes me wonder how much this happens everyday. I understand to continue being the great country we are, we need to make more infrastucture etc. , but can't we first start sending some people to NYC to save some space for the people who truly enjoy the natural land?

Completely agree. I grew up on the NE side of Houston and within the past couple years I've seen hundreds of acres in the area leveled...right now they are clearing several large tracts along 59 between Beltway and Kingwood.

I see the same things back home in Louisiana, but I understand the need to not stay stagnant. As my home value continues to rise I actually can smile!

Makes me sick to my stomach to see all that land being turned into subdivisions

I remember sitting at IHOP on Lake Conroe watching an eagle flying around and landing in a pine tree on the opposite shore. The next week, I watched that eagle flying around looking for a place to land as they bulldozed that same shore for the starbucks. It was sad.

Yep. Thats one reason my place is still basically woods. It aint pretty by city yard standards but I didnt build my house in the woods just to make it look like the city

Ha Ha...not at all. Just wondering out loud. The fact that modern medicine is keeping people alive longer is adding to it.

Im all for "breeding limits" and death panels....I kid.
