I was there...great day for Golf, breeze was blowing which made it nice....

Followed 2 groups back to back....Ernie Els and Jordan Speith and Phil Mickelson and Hunter Mahan and Patrick Reed...were a combined -16.....Everyone was following these 2 groups....Its amazing how far these guys hit the ball.....
I was standing 4 feet from Patrick reed on hole 8, he was talking to his caddy that he thought his 3 wood would fly the green from the rough, 260 yards, so he pulled out his 5 wood and still flew the green.....no practice swing after about a 10 min delay moving people......It is a tough course to walk, up and down hills all day and the holes are spread out too far, but the course is in incredible shape....Perfect greens....

No sure what you mean by a different feel. It feels like any other regular tour event that I've been to. Colonial, Byron Nelson, etc. They are all too Corporate for my taste. I'll grant you the feel is much different than the majors I've been to at Augusta National and Pebble Beach.

I was out there today. Course is in great shape.

I got to caddy Wednesday in the pro am out there at the course. It was really cool to be inside the ropes

Glad you enjoyed it. Corporate is what makes the event possible, nobody is playing for fun.

Taking the whole family tomorrow. We started to go today, but got a late start and decided to stay home. Hope the weather holds!

As for the event, it's the only PGA event my kids and I have been to, and we all rank it as one of the best experiences of our lives. The value cannot be beat, and the access is second to none.

After going to the Shell a couple years ago, it really makes me wonder why I paid so much for football or baseball tickets in the past.

                Shell Houston Open

Went today. Followed Spieth, Mahan and Holmes for most of the day. They were great.

Well the players were great. Spieths gf was walking by and made some comment to a PGA official about how none of us were really fans and not even paying attention. Me and the guy next to me were both staring at the tee box waiting for Jordan Spieth to tee off and his gf had her back to him and had no idea what was going on. Entitled ***** was the term that came to mind.

I worked on Wednesday as my company (Fluor) sponsors 15 as we take marshaling and evacuation duties. It was a long day, but I loved and will return next year for a round or two between Thursday and Sunday. Standing inside the ropes (tee box was my favorite) was unreal!

Bad break for Spieth. Rooting for Wagner now.
