Good read and I use the word white , black all the time . Its descriptive , nothing more . Some times I get asked why were they have to be black or why did they have to be white ?? I respond with they were born that way Again that was a great read and I got a very visual picture from the way you wrote it

Great story. I wish there were more like yours, these days.

I don't disagree with you often, Oscar, but I do this time.
This story could have been way different, if it was two old silver haired white women.
I bet someone would have let them in line.

I don't like it anymore than you do, but racism does still exist.
Situations like this make it obvious.

Defending, offended, apologies..........none of that needed at all. I think I figured out the issue based on what you typed initially. U did good is all that counts.

Bingo! Heck, I helped two people load their cars yesterday at Home Depot that were near my truck .........simply because they needed help with heavy mulch/compost bags. Neither of them was a HOT babe either.......lol! Guess just how I was raised.

So how exactly did that make the story clear/plain? What did I miss in the paragraph on this one........ Anyone in line that is elderly and oblivious to their surroundings should be supported in a positive fashion.......which the OP did.........thus still a GREAT STORY!!! Are we saying folks in Baytown are a bunch of racist? I know that NOT to be the case at all.

Aha........so I missed they were being bypassed in TSC because of their skin color??? Where did the OP elude or say this in his post? If that was the supposedly underlying tone of the post (and action of the TSC customers bypassing them) I completely missed it. Yes, yes, yes......racism still exists but I NEVER got this from the OP post. I got from the post that two elderly men oblivious to the flow of the line and they appreciated him being respectful & helpful!

I get up to where they are standing and by this time have at least 10 folks behind me. I stop and look at them and say "you do know the line goes way back there, don't you?" They look at me and I kind of give them a smile and say " I know Yall were here before me, so go ahead and jump in line right here ahead of me"
Yes, I heard all the griping and complaining behind me but really didn't give a tinkers **** what those folks thought.
We ease up in line and these two men get their stuff rung up and the lady gave them thier total, the old man said " Miss, you forgot a few things, I'm payin for whatever this young man is buyin"
That's right, he paid for my entire $118 dollar purchase and all he said was thank you and do something nice for somebody one day"
          Yes Sir!!!! I certainly will
So maybe I am racially off course based on the writing. So they are lost in TSC basically (at the counter).....not literally lost....LOL! Folks don't talk to them, so they are racist or just focused on themselves? (Is that the racist part?) U finally get caught back up to them at the same counter and let them in the line and people behind you sigh, pout, complain because these folks had a sun tan? (Kevin, is that the racist part?) Could be subliminal racism but the story sure did not scream BAYTOWN RACISTS at TSC. It honestly came across as a really nice feel good story that ALL of us should do for any elderly person regardless of race, color or creed.

YES on sooo many levels! That was the point I was making, not to be construed as racial at all. Kudo's to the OP for doing what was right in the given situation.

I still believe there is a lot of good. Good to others, good Americans, people who support our troops, southern hospitality.

We tend to focus on a lot more bad things which overshadows the tons of good.
