How much should a well cost?

I have land in menard. I have had prices for drilling a well from 17k to 21k. I'm saving up for my well. I know that the depth of wells out there go around 560 feet. I'm wondering if the prices are fair or am I getting a fast one pulled over me. I would be thankful for any advice.

I just drilled a new well at my ranch. It is 500ft and I paid 20k. But that included running the new electricity and plumbing. The drilling itself cost 14k and materials made up most of the rest. Prices will fluctuate though depending on what they have to drill through. The thing I liked about our design is that my guy cased the lower 60 ft will gravel and then poured concrete on top to prevent other water from getting down into our good water. We are getting 60 gal/min. with really good quality water. It only took 1 hr of running before the bleach got out of the hole. Good luck to you.

I guess it would also depend on how big the well bore is. What type of ground there is to drill through. This seems a little high. Is there a lot of travel involved for the contractor?

For what it's worth, those prices aren't actually way out there. I had a new well drilled up here. Went to 473 feet and all said and done is was 15k.

Had two 250' holes drilled through granite a couple years ago. Can't remember exact cost but it was for sure less than $8k for just the drilling and concrete cap.
