I had Verizon, but switched to AT&T and I always have service where I didn't with Verizon. My nephew rode with me to Yellowstone and he has Verizon so we compared service. I always had service when he did and also when he didn't.

It kinda depends on where you use the service. From my hunting lease, only Verizon works. Couple of years ago in central Colorado mountains, only ATT worked.

Verizon's signal is strongest from around Austin then East. AT&T is strongest Austin then West. Most of Texas AT&T will work. East Texas is Verizon for sure.

I wonder how much the model/brand of phone influences this. I've changed phones (granted, I still use a dumb phone) on the same plan and found a noticeable difference in signal.

ATT family plan with 10G rollover data and 4 phones $160. Great coverage where I hunt in East Texas, Central Texas, and Oklahoma. Good price, good customer service.

It seems to matter somewhat. At our place in Colorado, our smartphones don't get as good a signal as my sons dumb phone does.
