Id prefer to invest in scouting and calls. Right place and the right sounds puts them where you can shoot them with #8's and a factory 'open' choke.

I shoot a browning 10 gauge with a rhino choke. Order some nitro 4,5-7 blend. $200.00 a box 75 plus yard gun. Some people say it's not hunting, but for those birds that are hung up and wont come in close enough.

Shotguns are for pregnant women and children!

J/k I've always used a cheap tru glo extra full choke in my 1187 and it has dropped birds out to 55 yards with 3" #5's

I've got a Carlsons coyote choke for varmint hunting. Would that work ok with a turkey load?My Mossberg 835 only has the modified choke, which killed a turkey last year lol.

I never suggested that he or anyone should do anything. Just that killing turkeys with a shotgun isn't as hard as some make it out to be.

Some folks believe in the relentless pursuit of perfection. They like to tinker. It's a hobby to fine tune the turkey shotgun, and get "x" number of pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards. There are entire forums of people who tinker with this all year long, and spend a lot of time discussing it. If that is what gets you excited, then by all means, enjoy yourself.

As for "having to make that 50 yard shot" you never are forced to take a shot. That is a choice.

The thrill for me isn't always killing a turkey, but the pursuit.
I hear you on not always having to kill a bird and I too enjoy the pursuit, but it is nice to have a gun that you can efficiently kill a bird out to 50-60 yards. I would not feel confident in shooting that far if I did not know what my gun and pattern will do. When you hunt some sub species other than Rio's that are in more open land sometimes you have to reach out and touch them when they hang up.

I don't worry too much about choke anymore. Go to a pawn shop and find yourself a used ten gauge

I use a comp-n-choke, screw in, ported, *** full in my mossberg 500 12ga. I used 2oz of #5s in a 3 in shell and have never had a problem. I try to get them within 20yds, but have killed out to 50 and they all take a quick dirt nap.

Just curious about using this choke. Would I be better off w the coyote choke or modified? Thanks

What ever choke you choose, don't over look testing all of the turkey loads to see what load works best with your gun. You will be surprised at the difference.
