over 200k and no real issues, bullet proofed it just cuz my buddy has a shop, i fyou maintain it and drive it like it is supposed to be driven they are fine, you can also take the egr valve out and clean it which most people dont know, did mine every 30k when it had one...mines been chipped since 8k miles and stacked chips sinice 100k. the problem most people dont tow with them and just have them cuz they want to be part of the crowd and have a diesel

I have an '04 6.0 with 155,000 on it. Notorious for the earlier builds (mine) to have more issues than later but I can say this thing has been good. Driven long distances (3000+ miles in a trip) pulled heavy loads (horse trailers, swamp buggys, full ATV trailers) no problem. I know its still a young'un but it has not had anything outside of the normal and mine is not chipped, no EGR delete or head studs have been changed. It's man made so you never know what might go wrong.

Just looked at my odometer. Mine actually has 219,374 on it. I change the oil every 5000 miles and fuel filters every 15,000. i also run Diesel Kleen every tank. Don't know if it helps but it's more of an insurance policy in my mind.
Agree with the poster above that said 6.0 owners who have had problems report them far more than those who don't. I know if I was having typical 6.0 issues with mine I'd be the first to tell everyone it's a POS lol. Since I haven't had a single issue, I really don't have much to talk about.

I have a 2003 with 204k miles. The first owner of the truck had studs, egr delete, ficm, hpop, blue spring adapter, and some other stuff done to it. Overall he said he put about 5k worth of repairs to the truck and had the receipts to back it up. I have had it for about 25k miles and change the oil every 5k, fuel filters and coolant filter every 10k. I love the truck and hope it will last another 100-150k. Only time will tell.

If you like the truck go for it. There are things that need to be looked at before you buy though.
Most people who downtalk these engines have never even owned one, or were to lazy or incompetent to maintain it. Routine maintained is key for these trucks. I've had two and run the absolute dog **** out of mind and never have any major trouble. But I maintain my engine like no one else out there. I blew my transmission up in my 06 but I was running a hot tune with a 20 year old lead foot. These are arguably the strongest transmissions on the market.
You can drive it all the time and watch your temperatures and never have any major problems. Or you can stud and delete it and not worry about much. I live and breath these engines, if you have any questions just shoot me a pm.

Got a 06 with 160000 on it bought it used 5 years ago with 100000 on it had issues when pulling my camper got a good mechanic spent 6000 on oil cooler eager delete and studded it not a problem since and I run it with a act tuner runs awesome and will pull anything. But I paid 15000 when I got it which is the only reason I bought it, figured that gave me the funds to do the work if needed. So I'd do it again if I got one cheap enough to drop 6000 and still be a good deal

well I bought my 06 6.0 with 56000 miles on it I had it bullet proof first thing. It runs like a champ hell I just pulled a dodge home with a blown transmission. It is all how you maintain them. It cost me about 5 grand to bullet proof it. all these diesels now days have there own problems good luck

I think a lot of the "run like hell" comments come from people that have never had one, but hear this stuff and just repeat it. I know for a fact, I have had 3 great ones.injectors studs erg transmission hpop ficm you name it and i probably had to replace it.
