Cheating is cheating wether it's softball or baseball or life in general. If it doesn't bother you to cheat than that's on you. I was raised that if you can't get it honest than you don't deserve it. Posting on this forum that your a cheat or want to be one, shows your true character.

Shaving a bat is cheating. Regardless if everyone else is doing it or not. There is a good reason why they made it illegal to shave bats

I agree with Uncle Charlie! If you need to shave your bat to hit a homerun, than you shouldnt be swinging for the fence in the first place. Learn to hit and basehit the ball. It's freaking slow throw softball!!! If you cant get a base hit or place the ball where you want, than thats just sad. But, if you have to use an illegal bat to make your ego feel better cause now you can hit one over the fence, than I feel sorry for ya! We played alot of slow throw in our college yrs, and we could beat ALOT of teams without hitting many HR's.

Well that's good that you use legal bats and play legit, most people don't which is the people we play against
You asked to refrain from negative comments while you blatantly request pointers on how to cheat! That makes you a cheater. I spent 30 years in slow pitch softball and it's guys like you that drove me away. shaving and ROLLING bats is altering bats. That's cheating. That's also leaving your less than informed behind open for huge liability. Honestly, I wish more people like you would get sued.

Yeah, I'm bashing you... simply because you are dead wrong and I lost any respect that I might have for you in your original post.

I don't know who wants to spend $200-$300 on a new bat just to break it in a month, then have to wait 6 months to get the warranty denied for shaving it?

If my team was getting knocked around because "everyone" was swinging a shaved bat, well I would be looking for a new league or drop down a division.

I haven't seen to many E league mens teams swinging hot bats.
Oh I've seen them but I'm talking about when they swing the bat like a piece of twizzlers

Do you have to cut the end of the bat off to shave/mill the interior wall?

Would seem to be kinda excessive/expensive for just a bat.

This is all I've ever done in softball. It's more fun to test people arms on the basepaths anyways. Never understood the glory of hitting a plus sized ball that's lobed in the air over the fence, especially with an altered bat.

Just read all the replies. I honestly didn't know it was illegal. I played football not baseball in school. Started softball after school played for 3-4yrs nothing serious few years at the y and 2 at pjs I didnt even own a bag first 2 years never and hit with others including shaved bats.had a shaved bat but many guys on the team did. Ive never seen a bat taken away.
