Im going with thermostats also. 10 years difference but our 88' 150 VRO had a constant buzz when the small reservoir on the motor got low. We could run all day in the upper 20mph range, soon as the RPMS got 3500 or so it only took a mile before it went off. Fished it that way for years.

In the event its the pump disconnect and mix yourself.

My 150 Yamaha had the buzzer going off. Reach back and touch the stream and it would be scalding. Took Tstats out and runs like top

Jack plate on your boat? Running it jacked up too high causes it to not get enough cooling water and will cause an alarm.

Not exact same problem, similar. Alarm would sound as running hot and shut down to idle. Cool down and run fine, get hot shut down to idle. Had good stream and pressure. C/out water pump, still happened. Inside was built up with salt residue not allowing a full stream of water. Several rounds of a cleansing agent and it was fine.

Had the same problem on a trip to Amistad. Called the dealer and we went though this process. If oil is full check the coolant stream, if it is strong and constant it is a faulty low oil sensor. Should be a green wire on the right side of the motor with a little male/female connector. To test this theory you can disconnect this wire if the alarm stops that's it. This is not connected to the temp sensor. If this is in fact the very common problem leave it disconnected. HOWEVER you will want to premix your oil for the just incase you forget to fill it back up. The oil injector will continue to work as normal you just won't have an alarm to tell you it's low. The motor will just smoke a little more but will run just fine and on the safe side.

My bros Yamaha did that same thing last weekend. Low on oil. But you said yours was full. I do not know.

Mine did exactly that when it was low on oil. You could have a oil pump problem.

I think that there is a oil filter or screen in the bottom of the oil reservoir. It may be pumping enough oil at lower RPM's, but when you increase RPM's you lose flow. Then when you shut it down & restart it fills the small oil reservoir back up. It is just a guess on my part.

I was having problems not getting oil from the big tank to the small tank causing the alarm. I pulled the pick up tube and the oil had jelled in the bottom of the big tank clogging the screen. Cleaned the pick up tube screen and tank with gasoline filled with new oil and was fine. Had never even thought about cleaning this tank always just added oil. This was over about a 10 year period and the bottom inch of oil was thick and jelled. Just something else to look at.
