I had a buddy that worked at the Association of Former Students and I had the engagement ring put in with her Aggie Ring on ring day. Had the TV crew there and everything and they filmed it all. Have been married 13 years now and have two wonderful kids. That was probably the last romantic thing I did for her.

Mine was over Skype while I was deployed in Iraq. I knew we were getting married from the start. While on Skype, i said that we were going to get married when I got home. I called her dad and received his blessing. When I came home from deployment and spent the day on the beach in southern California, the next morning I rolled over in bed at the hotel and asked "Hey do you want to go to Vegas?" She asked "what for?" And I replied with "to get married". Four hours later and several beers were married. Best 80.00 bucks I have ever spent! That was with my military discount as well!

She knew I went to Houston that day to shop for a ring. On the drive home I kept wondering when and how I would propose. After I picked her up from work, I made some corny excuse that I left something at work. I worked at the YMCA building. When I picked up what I needed I suggested we go out the back door. I walked her over to the tree and sat her down on that bench and got on one knee. She said YES as I startedy speech. I said "babe, will you lete ask first?" Or sometging like that.

Then we stopped by Golden Fried chicken to get dinner to celebrate on our way back to our appartment in Bryan to celebrate.

Have a Benjamin Knox portrait of that tree in our living room.

I knew I could never get my wife to the century tree without her knowing. This is a somewhat famous tree in the canyon where I grew up called the twin oaks and I figured it was a great alternative.

Asked her to go check some cows with me about sunrise one morning and she reluctantly went. Told her I had something cool to show her under that tree and she reluctantly got out of the truck. I sure enough had something cool to show her and she perked up soon after that.

          I emailed.

Me: Hey, you want to get married?

          Her: Are you serious?

          Me: Sure, why not?

          Her: I guess.

Fifteen years and two kids later we are still happily married.

On a trip to see her friends and family in Canada. I didn't know when or how I would do it I just "winged" it when the time came. We went to dinner with about 20 of her friends and I put the ring in her purse and said to myself that when she found it that I would propose right then. Well after dinner she asked for her purse and saw it...so I asked her.

It was pretty cool because it was a moment just between us and nobody knew what had happened until I put the ring on her finger and she started crying.

I took her out to Ingram to stay in some little cabins for a few days and do some axis/whitetail hunting on a piece of property I had permission to hunt. Was going to wait till the next day after she killed her first deer. But couldn't wait any longer I just knew she would find the box while unpacking. So in the cabin I got on a knee and said something. She said yes and next day killed her first deer and 8 point buck. Dropped him in his tracks!

She wouldn't quit nagging me about wanting a wedding ring. Finally pulled a box out on SPID in corpus and tossed it in her lap and said will you shut up now....she made me pull over into the golf store parking lot and put it on her finger... She still nags come to think of it...

I thought the same. I figured she had to know what was going on when we drove to campus that night. To this day she claims she had no idea until we walked out the back of the Y. It was spontaneous enough that it caught her off guard.

After about the 83rd time of her asking me "are you ever going to marry me?" I said "yeah, fine, pick a date". Boom. Done.

Got tired of read all this sappy stuff so here goes...
Had been thinking about asking for a while. One night we were laying in bed watching TV and it hit me that there was no reason to wait or making something special/different. I took her hand and asked if she would make me the happiest man yada yada yada.
She said yes and I first went next door and told my best friend, his girlfriend and all the other Aggies living there.. We then partied!!
37 years later I'm still married to my first and only wife. Why she kept me I have no idea. lol
