Where should I live - In or near San Antonio???

I'm relocating my family to the San Antonio area this summer. I need some guidance from the Green Screen's cumulative wisdom. Which neighborhoods are best? What school districts should I try to be in? Better to live out in the country or nearer the city?... These are all questions I have.

I also need a Realtor and a mortgage broker, so if you have someone you like and trust, point me toward them. If anyone on here is a Realtor, or a mortgage broker, I'd like to hear from you as well!

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Have you thought about New Braunfels? What part of SA will you be working?

Yeah...kinda need to know where you are going to work.

We are in Bulverde/Spring Branch area and love it. We've been here 4 years.

My office is Northeast, near the airport. Is New Braunfels nice?

Stone Oak to Bulverde is where it is at based on your job.

New Braunfels is awesome but a bit further. Basically the north side at or outside of 1604.

I live in New Berlin, Rachel drives 35 miles to downtown area, straight shot on i10. Love the area! Around 30 min to SA, New Braunfels and San Marcos. 60 miles to Austin on excellent Toll Road out of Seguin. LaVernia School District I am told was excellent. Numbers went down on scores recently bc of all the resent transplant kids from parents moving south to chase the industry. Can't beat country living with quick access to 2 major cities and 2 awesome towns... Oh, and Houston is just straight down 10 but I've never lost anything there I couldn't find in SA or Austin . And I'm from the Houston Area....

I live in Schertz. It's about 10 min south of new braunfels. Great school system, low crime rate. Was in the top 50 cities to live in the usa. Lower property taxes than Bexar county. New braunfels is very nice as well though.

I'm at airport now, 23 minutes with no traffic. Lil longer during rush hour.

lol, north side...stone oak. Sure if you like sitting in traffic all day. I travel thru there to get my lease and or to run boats at canyon pretty regularly. You could not get me to move out there. From 1604/281 to about redland rd it will be bumper to bumper traffic anytime anyday of the week..and thats with three lanes running both ways. Area is overrated and over populated in my option. Im with mitch on this one. I wouldnt trade it for nothing.

More than one way to skin a cat. If he moves to the Stone Oak area and needs to get to the airport, just go down Blanco to Bitters to 281.

But, the 281 comment is spot on. That stretch has been jacked up since for whatever reason they didn't build overpasses in the area. Then the toll road folks came out and Terri Hall and her bunch freaked out six ways from Sunday. It's going to be a mess for a good long while.

LMAO. not at all. I travel it a few times a week. Minor slowdown for the traffic lights. A small price to pay for living in the Hill Country. Stone Oak to the airport in ten minutes with traffic.

Trust me, the HEB in Stone Oak is not overrated. LOL. Yoga pants?

There is usually a reason that some areas are growing like weeds and others are stagnet.

Luckily for me I get to live in Wimberley. LOL.
