Not long ago, I scored a sweet deal from a good friend on a Remington model 7 in 7mm-08. The synthetic stock was super light, and fit nicely, but my plans all along were to get a wood stock for it, as it's a gun I hope to pass down to a grandkid someday.
I've always liked the looks of Boyd's laminate stocks, and the price is quite nice too, so I ordered one for this rifle.
Ordering was super easy. Click, click, click, and done. Just select the brand, model, and action length, then the style and color of stock.
I chose the Prairie Hunter in Nutmeg. Just $97 plus shipping. I consider that an absolute steal. After getting this stock in my hands, I would have gladly paid 2x that amount (don't tell Boyd's!
)
Here she is before and after.
I will eventually glass bed the action, but the barrel is almost completely free-floated. Just a tiny bit of contact at the end, which may go away when I bed it, but if not, should only take a minute to clear. Most of the barrel easily passed the dollar-bill test.
I think it looks fantastic, and can't wait to finally get it on the range. The little extra heft of the wood stock should make the 7-08 shoot sweet.
If any of you have been curious about ordering one of these, I say go for it. I'm beyond pleased.
