I love how some people can just not see that there is a definitive plan in place to reduce America to rubble. It is obvious to every Patriot I know!!!!

They didn't pass a law today- this was done administratively by the FCC, the head of which refused to testify in front of a congress yesterday.

The fact that fcc is illegally bypassing congress to write laws should tell people all they need to know about why this is bad. The other thing that bothers me is much like the healthcare bill nobody knows what is in it. There is a politico story that Google was rewriting part of the bill before they passed it today.

Can you explain to me how the fcc is illegally bypassing congress?

It is the job of congress to write law, not bureaucracies. The problem is we have let the fcc, epa, ftc, and whatever other alphabet soup agency you can think of get away with this for a while now especially under Obama. I could be wrong but my understanding is law must be written in the congress, voted on in congress and Senate then signed by the president. Congress has gotten lazy and allowed these agencies to legislate and write their own policies.

My understanding they did, well actually Google and other tech companies wrote it. If not the fcc then who did because it didn't go through congress or it wouldn't have passed.

What is it then? Any company or individual who does not follow regulations of the net neutrality regulations will be fined, jailed or shutdown or all of the above correct?

LOL. Lets look back on this in a couple years and think about how ridiculous that statement is.

There are all of the above in any number of city, county, state and federal regulations.

Cable TV is a raw stream unlike data streaming on things like Netflix. There is no concept of buffering. If you lose packets for one reason or another you start to get pixel artifacts drawn on your screen.

Federal agencies write regulations. They are empowered by Congress to do so. Generally Congress writes the law, and makes the agencies write the regulations that intact it. My humble understanding is they decided that they have previously been empowered to regulate the internet and just were not doing it.

As for buying speed. I would assume that netflix would want to stream better than amazon prime - so they would pay ATT a fee to give them priority. Now that this is going to be regulated - ATT will look elsewhere for their revenue stream.

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I thought congress had to vote on the regulations.
When was the fcc empowered to regulate the internet?
