    Plat map preparation charges

If any of y'all work for a surveyor, or create plat maps, I wanted to see what the going rate is or at least a ball-park charge amount for drawing plats. I'm working on one now, I'm just not sure how much to charge the client. I don't typically do this, so I don't have a baseline.

          Plat map preparation charges

Im not a surveyor nor do I work for one but the guy we bought our 5 acres from failed to have a plat done before he sold it to us, he had 15 acres and cut off our 5 from that. When the county attorney called to see if I would be willing to half the cost with him my cost would have been $900 so the total cost would have been $1800 but that was 7-8 yrs ago. Hope that helps a little.

Depends on what type of plat you are doing.

              Thanks, HB

I'm wondering if he meant not only the plat, but the survey?

What I'm doing is creating a plat that shows the division of 3+ acre tract of land being divided into 6 lots. Of course with all the bells and whistles of bearings, coordinates, and legal descriptions. I was thinking 4-500. It's good work, but I also want to be fair.

I did a few well location plats and pipeline ROW plats for a surveyor. He gave me all the info and I did the plats in a little over an hour. I charged him $75-100 a plat.

This one was a 6+ hour job. That makes me feel better about what I'll probably ask.

This is probably a very fair price. If you're having to come up with boundary calls and all that it might be worth even more. We have a property development business and the cheapest bills we ever get from surveyors are more than that.

Sounds fair but don't sell yourself short if you have to run it through all the approvals there are typically some fees with that, etc.
I don't work on plats but generally site work. I can ask someone at the office here.

Those fees will not be in addition to what I'll charge - it's for labor only. The review fees will be paid separately at a later time by the client. Good point though.

Also you have to be careful about surveying without a license. That can get expensive quick too.

It was surveyed by an RPLS. I'm the draftsman.

                            I appreciate the concern.

Ok, cool! I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything, but there are a lot of people that don't realize that the government tries to regulate everything.
