I'm leaving work in about 15mins. You should be in good hands now. Let me know if they are able to get it resolved. Good luck!

Thanks again for the help. Just talked to the maintenance guy and he believes he has chased the issue down and is taking care of it currently. He also gave me his name and number. Feeling much better about suddenlink at this point, but I really feel like you guys need to figure out a better system for trouble shooting and getting a hold of the correct contacts for getting issues taken care of.

But much much more satisfied customer at this point.

Got to love the TBH brotherhood.

I had an issue like that with my ATT DSL. Ended up being the telephone wiring in my house. I don't remember what the guy did except he mentioned having to wire the telephone jack my router was connected to as a "homerun" instead of a series. Has been working now without issue for about 4 years.

It could be some sort of RFI due to compromised shielding, but the effects would be constant or at least random in timing.
Usually when something like this happens at a set timeframe, it will be due to some type of large interference that happens on a regular schedule.
I've had one customer's TV shut down an entire node whenever it was turned on.
It was only used when she was babysitting her grandchildren. It took me two weeks to track it down, because it would only happen between 4 and 5pm on weekdays. I was able to finally find it when the grandkids spent a Friday night there and it was still on when I came to work on Saturday morning.

Rolling the IPs should happen at night and should only take seconds for the computers to grab a new one.
          That would not take hours.
I had to reset the router every night because it would never grab the IP.

IMO sorry for any suddenlink employees or customers, it is garbage.

Go to AT&T UVERSE that is what i used once i was out of the shizy dorms and we never had an issue. Used them for TV and internet.

              This thread ROCKS!

That maintenance tech sounds like he treats his customers like I do mine.
I'm betting the problem never got referred to maintenance in the first place, which is why the problem hadn't been fixed before now.
We are held to a higher standard as maintenance techs. We cannot get away with not doing our job and resolving mainline issues.

That's a problem with the router then, not the internet provider.
If it's provided by the ISP, then they should replace it.
If you bought it to save the $10/month for wifi, then you should replace it.

It's a little bit unfair to judge an entire company from the experience you had while in a dorm.
Too many people messing with too many connectors/cables, hooking up crappy pawn shop TVs, and the building owner rarely wants to spend money to replace bad wiring in the building.
All of those put together creates a nightmare situation to keep everything running like it should.
I've found one house or even one bad TV that would shut down the Internet in an entire neighborhood, so a bunch of college kids jacking with wires would cause all sorts of problems.

What was the issue? A faulty router, or something upstream?

They way he explained it and his theory on it was that the main line runs from one end of the apt complex to the other and it jumps from one building to the next. Well he checked every building in my line and apparently building one was good building 2 was good going into box but the connection or whatever they call it for the line coming from building 2 to mine is having issues. His theory for why it happens around 2 is he thinks that around that time is when the sun comes around the buildings and has finally heated up that internal mechanism enough to cause it to fault. So he replaced it and was showing a much better signal coming into my building now. Will see what happens tomorrow at this point but based on what he was saying he is 99% sure that is what the issue was.

My kids are on youtube/internet nonstop streaming cartoons and movies via wireless to 2 ipads. Only in really bad weather does it not do very good.
But you have to be pretty close to the cell tower. If too far - your speed is blah..

If this were related to the sun hitting a box, then the time things go down should change daily. More likely each day a little later than the day before due to the changing in angle every day of the earth to the sun as we approach summer.

Perhaps there is a server somewhere that is on a daily reboot schedule. I got rid of time warner because of this very issue. Currently use comcast and pay way too much - but I do have 65 mb /sec. I am very dependent on the net and will pay to keep the connection solid.

Entirely not accurate... I have 3(2 mac's and a custom rolled xubuntu), and this image is not accurate.

Besides, plenty of "playas" out there have Iphones and/or android phones, both of which are *nix

                              Just sayin.

There is a component in the amplifiers that is temperature dependent, so the time would not be exact every day. If it's cooler, it would take a little longer for the sun to heat it up. This problem is not rare, but not exactly common either. Takes about 10 seconds or so to replace. The only way to know if it's fixed is to wait. If the problem doesn't come back for a couple of days, then that was it.

Where do you live that you could choose between Time Warner and Comcast?
As far as I know, we are not in the same cities anywhere.
And whoever told you about a daily rebooting server was most likely giving you an excuse to appease you.
I've been here 20 years, 12 of that offering Internet service, and I have never heard of a daily rebooting server. Plus, servers don't take an hour to reboot.
