Parts: Screw in tree game camera mount (Academy - $10 if I remember correctly), Moultrie 6v Solar Panel/battery combo (Academy - $36 I think), Covert Camera, 5.5mm female to 4mm male DC jack adapter (ebay - 12 for around $10 I think)

I did have to make to hole in the camera housing a little bigger to fit the DC Jack adapter.

The solar panel with mount as high up in the tree as possible, and the camera will have 4 rechargeable batteries.

Is this set up keeping up?

It is! As long as it has about 4-5 hours of Sun a day, the battery stays at 9.

How far does it dip down & still go back up to 9?

Lowest it has been was 7 during the cloudy weeks we had. I have two others that are in the woods that would fluctuate from 5-6 for about 3 months. That is with 15-20 pics a day.

That's not bad. As long as they keep sending pics.

Covert Camera and Solar Panel Setup

I use external power for my cameras but go a little different route. I buy a cheap ammo box w/o-ring or water-tight seal and mount a solar panel to it. Then store a 6V/12V battery inside and run it to my camera. I mount the box vertically either to a T-Post or tree (with U-bolts or lag bolts) depending on what is nearby my feeder. Works great for several years now. The power cord I use has the plug for the camera on one side and terminals for the battery on the other. Don't have a pic with me, I'll snap on next time I'm at the lease. But total cost was around $40-$50 including battery.
