How long do the batteries last with the Moultrie setup?

      What purpose does that serve?

If your solar panel puts out more than what the camera consumes, you could simply keep the internal batteries charged and not have an external battery at all.

I'm not sure yet. I'm hoping at least 6 mo. The 3 of mine are sitting in the garage waiting to get deployed next weekend.

Solar panels aren't that efficient. On a stretch of cloudy days the "deeper" battery will cover the gap in the charging.

Or if I get a lot of night time pictures or the cell survive is spotty the camera will use more than normal. Lots a factors play a role in battery life. I'm just stacking the deck in my favor.

You will need all the help you can get if you plan to leave sms function turned on.

              Right

But mine is turned off. Mine is set up in a "spotty" area and searches a lot. Which eats up battery life. There are good days and bad. This larger battery should bridge the gaps

I like the Moultrie PowerPanel. I bought 2 in July '13 and while 1 petered out about 6 months in the field and had to be replaced, the other has powered one of my Primos Truth Cam 35s non stop for more than 17 months now.
In fact, it has worked so well, I refuse to replace this one full size 35. See money shot! I'm getting away from the big TC 35s and have moved on to buying smaller cams just for ease of set up....but the PowerPanel has worked well.

I got one of these from Cassie, Tod and Marilee for my birthday but I'm worried it won't work in Montel with no service. Going to try our back stand that's on top of the hill.

Lol...I guess you heard? All of mine are working except the one at my pipeline stand. I think that one may have drowned...

Here are a couple pics from my shell road. Not looking good! Especially since that feeder is up on higher ground!

I would go to the covert website and look at the extended antennas. If you get zero service out there, there is really no chance of it working. I have one in an area that I only get one bar and it works fine.

Since I just lost one of mine to the flood, I will buy yours from you if you decide to get rid of it

Troy sent me pics of behind camp. I wanted to come out Sunday afternoon, but got lazy after church, then lunch... Crashed on the couch ...said gar were swimming around his Ranger like a few years back when he and I were bowfishing out of the back of his ranger on that road between Bill's house and Clayton's... Would love to go out there with my canoe and set some limb lines in that back water near the creek... some big ol catfish in that backwater this time of year.

What's the milliamperes rating on the moultrie?

I almost doubled the milliamperes on my setup. The covert is 2600 and my upgrade is 5000.
