    Zicam cold remedy?

Do y'all believe in the stuff? I do believe that using it from that first day of a scratchy throat, plus decongestant and plenty of water, can shorten a cold by a few days. I'm hoping for a similar result this go around. :/

I have had good luck with Cold Eze. Really just high dose Zinc. Straight zinc tears up my stomach though.

My wife swears by it. Does nothing for me!

I used it for a long time and then one time I swear it made me more sick. I switched to Cold Eze and as long as you start as soon as you begin feeling the symptoms, I think it makes a difference. However, this upper respiratory cold I am trying to get over right now has been extremely resistant. Everyone I have talked to that used Cold Eze or Zicam said it didn't seem to help, and neither did any other OTC medicine. It just has to run it's course, but after 3 weeks I went to the doctor and she gave me a steroid shot.
This particular cold virus is still better than getting the flu.

For years I have used zinc lozenges as soon as I start to experience symptoms. Not certain this time it helped much. I do believe that the symptoms are not as bad as they could be. I really don't feel bad, but this dang cough won't let up. I have coughed so much over the past three days that my ribs hurt. Generic Mucenix doesn't seem to help either. Had to finally break down and take Nyquil for the first time in my 61-year life so I could get sleep.

That all being said, I will continue to use the zinc whenever I start getting the feeling in the future. Maybe I need to start the cough stuff sooner.

X2. I keep a bag at my desk and start on them at the first sign of trouble. They never give me any stomach trouble however.

I've tried one thing that believe helped me get over a bad chest cold/bronchitis a year or so ago. Wellness tablets and elderberry syrup. I think I took like 8 wellness capsules a day and 3 teaspoons of elderberry syrup a day. I woke up the next morning after the first day of this and felt way better! I kept doing this for about 5 days just in case. Good stuff!!

you said it...I've been taking zinc this past week, fam is sick. I usually take it after I eat or sometime around that. Took a pill before bed (empty stomach), wow, I felt awful for about 20 minutes trying to go to sleep. Couldn't for the life of me figure it out till the next day and thought about what did I do before bed. Note to self, take zinc pill right after a meal

I have had pretty good results with it but I talked to a doctor a few weeks ago that told me it was snake oil.

most of those cold "remedies" make me feel worse. I only take Mucinex D when congestion gets bad. Rest, water & Tylenol helps

yep...works good as a preventative to.

I'll take the rapid melts & a product called Borion / Osciillococcinium. Comes in a little vile & put under your tongue.

Can't say if I'm lucky or this stuff works as advertised but I have been able to avoid cooties that the rest of the house passes around. For me, it's good enough for peace of mind.
