    Lump Charcoal Review Database

I discovered this database looking for some Reviews on some charcoal I was considering trying.

Pretty simple but enlightening reviews. Thought some of you might find it useful.

I likes me some Naked Whiz. Good recipes as well.

Don't know where you're located at, but I like using the HEB "Central Market" brand as well for my Egg. Consistent lump, a random "rock" every once in a while, and not a lot of shake in the bottom of the bag to clog up the air holes.

Yep, I've used them before. Most of the lump they've reviewed has been disappointing and the stuff they recommend can be hard to find or overly expensive, but it just shows you get what you pay for!

Thanks for posting. Don't see a lot of brands I recognize there but I know some like that western mesquite the review is spot on - just junk. Nothing worse than opening a bag of "lump" charcoal to find out that it is really a bag of charcoal chips.

HEB Central Market brand is B&B. Just in a different bag.

This is true. And it seems that it's like Cracker Jacks. There's a surprise in every bag.

I was wondering who they were rebranding, thanks for that.

I'd avoid at all costs the Whole Foods "365" brand. I swear if you don't have rocks and chips in there, the rest is old crown moulding and paneling parts they charcoaled.

I may have to disagree. I've used both and the central market lump seems to burn better.

Actually it was that exact brand and my experience with it that prompted me to search out reviews before I tried another brand. The bag I got actually had some binder twine mixed in with the charcoal.

Another disappointment was the Cowboy dust.

So far the best stuff I've used is the Green Egg and Primo lump.

I've tried to find the Publix Greenwise lump but the Publix near the house doesn't carry it.

The Royal Oak stuff that Walmart carries is supposedly decent as well.

The Royal Oak coming from Home Depot has been decent.

Nakedwiz has some good information for sure but, you do have to be careful doing the google search lol.

I believe Ace Hardware is supposed to carry that. Where do you get it?
