When using a work sharp just make sure you drag the blade to the tip and lift the knife up, it will also scratch the side of the blade.

It works great for me and I can get a razors edge super fast. I have never used the others though.

I have the "paper wheels" as well (on my second set), and of the three sharpening systems I have, this is absolutely the fastest and easiest way to get an edge hair-popping sharp.
If I have to go down to one sharpening system, it will be this one.

I got a Spyderco Sharpmaker for Christmas and I can have most of my knives shaving sharp in about half of that time.

If I'm just maintaining an already sharp edge, it's about 20 swipes or 2-3 mins on the fine sharpeners and I'm done.

The best method I have found is to use a Lansky followed by a paper wheel. Will make a knife scary sharp. I have a Warthog but cannot recommend them. They work well but they changed the design several years ago and no longer support the earlier model with replacement stones. So I have a $100 device that is not even good for a boat anchor. I also have a Worksharp. Also works but not as well as the Lansky/paper wheel.
