Back in about 1996 I inherited this from an old gentleman I helped out in his last years as he had no family. When he died at age 95 I ended up with it. Not knowing what to do with it, it has been sitting in storage since then. It is pretty cool - an Oshkosh brand steamer trunk/wardrobe made in the late 1920's or 1930's. As a winter project I finally decided to drag it out and do something with it. I cleaned it up a bit and the next order of business is to get it open - but I have no key. I searched some websites that sell old/antique keys but I could not find a match. Do you reckon a locksmith could either pick it or make a key? The number 129 is on the hasp which I assume is a key code but I don't know if that helps with a lock that is over 80 years old. BTW, I'm pretty sure it is empty but the thought of what might be in there is intriguing..... Any thoughts?

Do you think a locksmith could get into this?

Being a Yale lock with the code I would imagine a locksmith would be able to open it and make a key very easy. Might also try doing a little more research when you could call the people and talk to a person about it? I found a ton of web sites in a very short time?Last edited by bassmatt72; 01-10-2015, 11:52 AM.

Where are you located? I've picked a few locks. It really isn't that hard. I would suggest either finding someone local or getting yourself a decent lock pick set. This is the set I have and it works pretty good for everything I've needed: https://www.sparrowslockpicks.com/product_p/tux1.htm
