My wife wants remote start for her 2015 Explorer. Does anybody have recommendations for this other than Car Toys? Brands to buy? How hard is it to install?? Help me please!

Viper. Had mine a while. Get it professionally installed. Its not easy and its defiantly not something you want to have problems with. It can leave you stranded. I have one and I love it. Look into SMART START by Viper. I think I will look into that soon.

Last year I had a viper installed in my 2012 tundra....after three failures and repairs in three months! I ended up having the installer pull it out and refund me my total cost. Earmark audio was my installer and they were very good, just the viper was not a good system for my tundra.

Why not use the dealer? May cost more but maybe reliable.

Remote start?!?!?! don't you go outside and crank it up for her in the morn

Viper is my recommendation and if you are electronically inclined it is possible to do, but definitely don't want to go mucking around with wires without a multimeter, you could engage an airbag or something ($$$$$). pay someone to do it, if not comfortable with messing with electronics on cars today.

With a brand new vehicle, go pay to have it done somewhere, even if you know what you are doing. This way, just in case the wrong wire is cut or a hot wire accidentally brushes against the chassis, you are not out a bunch of $$$$ to fix things.

Go to a shop that has been around for a long time, preferably one that has multiple locations and will stand behind their work. Pick out a remote start that has a good warranty behind it and let her rip.

My wife had it added to her 14 Tundra when we bought it. It was a matter of the dealer plugging in a factory remote start because provisions had been made to the truck when it was made. Maybe the explorer is the same way?

Oh yeah, forgot about this. My B-I-L works at a dealership, there are some aftermarket add ons that integrate into the cars, such as remote start from anywhere, etc...

Call the dealer and see if they could just add a module or if there is supported after market options, that won't blow your warranty

                        Good call doublarrow

I can't believe any 2015 Ford doesn't have the option. I would call the dealer. Assuming you recently purchased the vehicle given the year, they may be able to roll it into the note even. I know, I know, you pay interest etc but just have to weigh the options for your situation.

Yes there are many after market options. Go to Pepboys, Cartoys, Bestbuy... Etc. no matter what anyone says they can be a easy to a nightmare to install. I would have it professionally done
