First trip to First Point

How's far along is the rut right now? Does anyone have any luck rattling during the rut?

They were just barely starting to run does.....only saw a few.

You are going on have a great time.....Bo is fantastic and there's always some good dudes there to help you out. Don't let my warnings about the toughness of the hunt ruin your idea of the place or the hunt....it's a good time.

In mid January, they should be done or rolling out of the rut They will also start hitting the feeders harder......PM Killem all.....he's been down there many times and knows it very very well!!

Thank RLB.. I have never hunted that part of the country yet buy I'm sure I'll have a great time.. Rather I get something or not I just want the experience of it..but I also like to go prepared and know ALITTLE going into it..

Good thing about January the snake should be hibernating. We killed 2 of the biggest rattlers I have ever seen there one time in September. Good luck.

Oh you're gonna have a blast. Lots and lots of deer to be seen and always a chance at nice deer and perhaps a true S. Texas bruiser.

Yea December or January will be my only time to head there.. Me around snakes isn't a good idea.. I hear of guys getting into stands down there and rattle snakes be in there before day light.. I would ruin everyone's hunt.. I would have my automatic bow and arrow blasting away!!

Yes there was a guy down there this last weekend that was hunting near opening weekend and had about 5 footer come slithering in the ground blind with him.....I would have died. Don't like snakes none at all......
