First axis hunt today. What to expect?

Got an invite from a buddy to take an axis doe this weekend in Kerrville. I'm packing up in a few hours. From what I've read, axis can be a little tougher than white tail. I have never had to shoot anything twice with my Marlin 336 in .35 Remington though. The hunt will likely be from a box blind over a feeder, but I am not sure. This is kinda last minute.

    Anything I need to know?

vitals are a little farther forward than a WT. Put one right through the shoulder and you should be good to go. Good luck

Ha ha, you put a 200 grain bullet into an axis at a reasonable feeder range and you shouldn't have any problems.

they are a little tougher to shoot, but as mentioned above, all is true. shot placement in the shoulder, and Much better eating, imo

i have killed them with small and big bore alike, they are just deer

the bigger thing to me is that they seem to run in bigger groups and move around a lot more than a white tail.

but either way, no reason your rifle wont do the job

I'm on the road. My buddy texted me from the blind and already has one down. Our limit is five for the weekend.

                    No different than wt.
skidding and travel in large groups. Lots of eyes on you.
Shoot those big old does. Lots of good table fare.

They do like to herd up. Wait for one to seperate and put in in the shoulder. I shot this one in 2012 in a hay field. Low fence at around 175 yards with my .270. He didn't make it 25 yards before he piled up. Good luck on your hunt!

Headed to the stand. Hoping to post some happy results later. Live hunts aren't really my thing. Didn't drive all the way to the woods to play with my telephone. Thank y'all for the help.
