Been there done that. You have smart pigs. It's like that here in Wimberley. I build corral traps with big doors and they don't have a chance. The larger the opening the better.
I wouldn't buy/ build guillotine style doors cause once the door falls your trap is useless so if coons or deer set it off you don't catch pigs until you reset it.

Here's what mine look like. Pm me and I'll help you any way I can.

Ohh yeah you could also you snares. They are deadly on smart hogs. You run the risk of snaring other animals though. I've never that problem. I'm super paranoid of where I set them though. Don't set them to fence lines cause I had a leg snared boar tear up the fence pretty bad

I have a few rice bran hogs that like to lay in their food also. Have a pic of home where hog looks like Al Pacino in scarface at the coke table.

If it makes you feel any better almost no one is catching or trapping hogs right now.

Wild hog prices are at an all time high.

I have a 40' corral trap with a 8' wide by 5' tall drop gate and the big hogs still won't go in. 'Course there are not many hogs on my place right now so I'm not too worried about it.

Know anyone in the restaurant business? Get a barrel of their old cooking grease before it goes off to recycle. Pour it on and in the trap, but make sure you have that trap well staked down, otherwise the root under it.

This. But one thing I have used to actually keep the hogs away from the corn I was deer hunting over was sour grain. We had a horrible problem with hogs on a lease I was on and those suckers would come out 50 at a time as soon as they heard the tailgate feeder going off. So we started dumping sour grain on another sendero to keep them away from the corned senderos we were hunting. It worked. They seemed to prefer the stench of that stuff alot more then the corn. And because the grain was much smaller it would take them a while to eat the stuff. This gave the deer time to eat the corn on the senderos we were hunting. That stuff works.

The acorns have a lot to do with it this year. We usually trap 40 or 50 a year and I think we've caught a dozen or so.

Right now, corn is piling up under the feeders . I can't even get a pig picture right now.
