    Cabelas 12" & 15" vacuum sealer...Questions/opinions.

As others on here I am looking to get a better vacuum sealer. Some folks like the the Weston brand and say the Cabelas commercial ones are made by Weston.

Cabelas has the 12" & the 15 " models. Other than the obvious size difference... is the 15" that much better than the 12" model?

It will be for home use, sealing up deer each year.I had a foodsaver, but it bit the dust and would like to upgrade. The ones at Cabelas are on sale and thought about pulling the trigger on one.

Anyone have the 12" model and can comment on it's effectiveness?

    thanx,

I have the 15", thing works great. Won't ever go back to the foodsaver brand. Went through 3 or 4 before I finally got smart

yeah... I don't think I will be buying another foodsaver brand. I have a Cabelas grinder & it is a beast.

I'm gonna piggy - back on this here too.....

I'm kinda curious on those that opted for the 15" model. Do you actually benefit from having the bigger size?

I'm eyeballing these and trying to figure out if the 15" is worth 60 bucks over the 12" model

And yes.....everything I'm turning up is the Cabela's and Weston are the same models, just different labels

Get the 15 inch. You can always get the smaller bags and make the 12 inch bags. If you ever need to make 15 inch bags and have the 12 inch model, you are screwed. Not really screwed, but have to make two 12 inch bags rather than one 15 inch bag.

And I have the 15 inch and it is great. Got it for the same price as the 12 inch model.

I do not think this model is sold with Cabelas name on it.

Cabelas Grinders are also WESTON brand.

I still have a food saver but will go with a WESTON once this one goes out.

                    Go 15" JUST IN CASE

Other than they're junk, not much!

Mine (2 different ones) will suck most of the air out of the bag, most of the time.
They'll also shut down if you're doing a bunch ... like 100 links of sausage.

I have one now. Had it over 10 years. Cant say too much bad about em. I guess I got lucky. But it has been limping along and I'm needing a new one. But for 200 bucks on Foodsaver....I just as soon spend another 100 and get a good one

yep, my foodsaver one just quit sealing. Still on the fence on 12 vs. the 15 inch models.
