This is a good tip for catfishing. To keep your bait on the hook, and not let the cat nibble it off. I cut a 2 to 3 inch square from an old pair of womens panty hose, put it over the hook and bait, and wrap a rubber band around the hook shank, Thay have to take the whole thing instead of nibbling the bait off the hook. Saves on bait.

How do you get them to stay on the hook?

Use bits and peices and they should stay on as long as you dont cast too hard. If they dont want to stay on use some fishing line to tie them in place.

Stawberry flavored and scented items work as well. Like strawberry bubble gum. Dont get sugar free though. Makes for a bad day. lol. Bubblisious is usally the strongest smelling and tasting stawberry gum.

I have been guiding catfishing trips for several years now and I like the sure shot punch bait the best. Its got minners, shad, hog lites, brains and cheese in it. No sponge needed just push a small treble down in it with a wooden paint stir stick. Good Luck.

well here is a wild one for ya, but works, take some dog food, smash or crush it up and mis it with blood and flour mix making a thick dough,
then take an old nylon and pour some dog food in it and tie it off at the top.
Attach a rock to one end and string to the other, drop this piece down in some blood let it soak, then after cpl hours when your ready toss it in and let it sink and tie it off, then bait your hook with the mix you made and toss it out, you will have swarms of cats all around the nylon fighting to take a bite so just get your line out there and its on.
