I feel the need to learn English.

Not how to speak it. I'm being down the the road to Theology or maybe Preaching or none of the above. It's not my call to make.
Here's what I'm needing. I understand what the verses are saying to me.
But when it come to breaking down the structure of a sentence and identify the verbs, adverbs, nouns, past perfect participles etc my mind defaults to overload status and shuts down. Making it hard for me to effectively communicate and teach.

I'm not an idiot! Not am I stupid. This has always been my kryptonite and Satan uses it to tell me I'm not worthy. Even though I KNOW I am.
I need to take the button away. Satans been kicking the life out of me lately and I haven't won a fight in a long time. I NEED a victory!

Please don't bash me!! I'm not in a place where I can take much negativity right now.

I know not how I can express my heart right, right now.

Why don't you look into various versions of the study Bibles?? They can be very helpful. I would also look into getting a mentor/small Bible study you can lean on. "A three cord strand is not easily broken."

Nobody should throw stones at your dilemma...heck, sometimes the same verses can touch you & mean something slightly different from day to day. One of the reasons they call it the living book.

    Good luck!!

I think it's a lot more important what the verses says to you than the structure of the sentence. Especially scripture sentences. They are convoluted at best. But if I was intent on diagramming a sentence I would take them to an English teacher or other professional for a quick lesson. Good luck and God's favor on your path, brother!

Pick up a copy of Good News For Modern Man...the Bible in today's language that might be easier for you to read; heck it's easier for everyone to read.

            Good luck with it.

Always remember God does not always call those that are equipped but He always equipped those he calls. Remember Moses didn't want to be called because he thought his brother was the better speaker. If this is your calling you will do just fine. Don't worry about it God is in control.

I'd also suggest supplemental material that breaks down meanings and history of the passages. I have a commentary I use that I like, but the name isn't coming to me right now, sorry!

Just recently (within the past couple months) I started reading the Bagain and rededicating myself to a more Christian lifestyle. Previously I only went to a youth group on Wednesdays back in high school. Most of that time was spent playing games and socializing. We only spent 30 minutes learning about our faith, and unfortunately most of that time I was too busy horseplaying with my buddies.

Recently I downloaded a free Bible app called "Bible" and the app icon of it says "Holy Bible". I purposely did not download a study bible because I wanted to interpret the verses into my own opinion and what I believed the message was. I did not want a study Bible to give my it's interpretation and influence my belief or opinion on the situation. The app I have is great because there are a bunch of different versions, so the wording is different but the meaning/message is the same it just uses words more common now than English words used 100 or more years ago. However, English is my weak spot as well so I also downloaded a free dictionary app. I frequently close the app to go search up a word in the dictionary app so I can better understand what the message is.

It also allows you to bookmark and/or highlight verses that you can look at later. Another great feature is the plans you can follow. This app has been a great way to get me back on track to restoring my faith. I hope this helps you out

Hang in there Brother. Your faith will see that you succeed.

I am currently working on my Masters degree and I can't diagram a sentence, and I have never needed to know how. Oh and I can't spell cat if you spot me the c and the t.

Where there is Gods will there is a way.

This is a very good app AND if you want, you can set it up so it can be used to read the Bible back to you. I do this sometime while driving...

The all time best program/app I have ever seen for doing just what you are talking about is E-Sword. (www.e-sword.net). This site is a ministry of Rick Meyers, and most of the background and historical information on it is free. There are literally hundreds of Bible translations available. Some are free, others that have modern copyrights are fee based, but they are pretty inexpensive. The main software is PC based, but there is also a mobile app for it too. I find myself in church using my iPhone more than my printed Bible in Bible Study and in worship service. Whoever is bringing the message, when they reference a scripture, I can get to it almost instantly and in the translation they are using so I can follow along. It is my number one resource for aid in understanding the Scriptures.

AND TO THE OP's specific request, the Scriptures themselves can be used for interpretation. God will use all manner of ways to direct your understanding. From the fall of man forward, He has used one man to help another in the understanding and delivery of the Scriptures and their understanding and meaning. the old Iron Sharpens Iron is fact. I strongly suggest that you just try to let go of the worry, and just read and study God's Word, and use all the resources available to you to help in understanding them. Most of all PRAY and ask God to show you what He would have you know and do. Some of the simplest ways I have come to use to understand sentence structure are rules I learned in primary school... One of my favorites is knowing when to us "me" or "I" in a sentence when referencing more than one person... Just say the sentence without the second reference and it will clearly help you understand which word to use... for instance, "My wife and I went to church..." or This is the church for my wife and me... Just say these two without the "wife" and you'll see clearly which word to use... Same goes for the Scriptures... Sometimes it is hard to understand who or what a scripture references... just take it one subject at a time and it will clear up for you... works for me anyway.

I pray our Lord will help you open your heart to His understanding and your worry will melt away into His understanding and care, Amen.

I appreciate all your responses tremendously!!

I've got time to expound on my original post more.
I am the Game Director for our Church's AWANA Program.
I lead our Men's Bible Study Group. It has 2 regulars and myself. Last year we had 8. 1 is eating meat as they say. Then there's me, a weanling and the other guy is still on the milk. He's an older gentleman so sometimes I have a hard time relating to him.
In our discussions I hear Bible references in my head and I blurt them out. One guy understands it, the other looks confused.
I was listening to KCBI on the radio, the host was saying that one reason people don't come back to a church is because they have the own language, ie acronyms for classes and groups. Another thing was they make reference to the Bible in conversations and don't expound or clarify leaving the new person feeling excluded....

I have 3 separate Bible Apps, Youversion, Olive Tree and Cadre Bible. They each have different aspects I like. I seem to use Olive tree more. It has Commentaries, Matthew Henry Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible, Jamison, Fawcett and Brown are the two I have. I have John Gills Commentary in my Kindle app.
I have an ESV with Strongs,
HCSB, NKJV, KJV, as offline Bibles in Olive Tree. I've got Naives Topical Index, Treasure of Scripture Knowledge index etc
My Bible is a NKJV Life Application Study Bible.

My prayer life is wanting currently.

So my initial post was to ask if anyone knows of a good basic introduction program to help me learn how to break a sentence down.
We just started a new Bible Study in Sunday School. It's Fundamentals of Faith by John MacArthur. In one of the lessons it breaks down a verse and explains it in more detail. I was confused by it. But I learned more about the verse.

MacArthur is one of my favorite Bible teachers. He has a topical chain study Bible that is awesome. That might help, and that e-Sword suite has the MacArthur Bible Commentary. That definitely would help. Don't know if your other commentaries are tied electronically with your Bible translations, but in the e-Sword suite has the commentaries tied with the Bibles and it's easy to switch back and forth... One is "the Preachers Commentary" that I find especially helpful. MacArthur is and Exegetical Bible Commentator and sometimes can be very confusing... THAT may be a big part of your issue. It is not for everyone. Kinda hard to say don't worry about it, but that really is what you should do... Man, just be yourself, and work on that prayer life. When mine get's "off", my thought processes and things just don't go as well. Ask Him for help. He WILL help. You KNOW descipling people is what the Great Commission is all about and that will be in the CENTER of His will.

I've found NASB version to be the easiest for me to understand on the Youversion app. It's vocabulary is more modern than ESV
