0. If its above that I'm ok. I've hunted in climbers and latters in show and frigid temps many times. I don't think it should be an issue down here. I have a feeling south Texas rarely sees 0 degrees.

Wind chill of 17 here this morning. I layered up and still hunted. Never got cold but my nose was dripping pretty good. I saw several deer on the wheat field and tried to set up on a trail to ambush a fat doe when she came out. About the time that she was ready to head into the brush and bed down the cows showed up and moved her away from my setup. I will go back in a couple of hours. The woodstove is burning and there is venison stew cooking in the crockpot. I'll be nice and warm by 6:45 unless I shoot something.
I am wanting to get another deer during this cold spell so that I can let it hang for a couple of days. I want to make some jerky and sausage this weekend.

The Cold Weather Index is not nearly that determining of factor as the Crown Royal Index.
I agree... Wicked cold mornings with hard frosts (tomorrow) are always better when the frost breaks... However sleepy heads... Keep in mind these critters have been hunkered down hard with the wind last few days.

Ive hunted on the side of a hill in a tripod when it was 8 degrees with a 5-10 mph wind in my face before. I dont let the cold keep me in the bunk. The cold actually motivates me to go. Ill try and sit longer ans hunt more during mid day when it gets really cold. Ive found the deer tend to move better after it warms up just a bit from the morning low. But you never know what might be out that one morning you decided it was too cold. Put more clothes on and enjoy it.
