Rifle build- who should I use?

I'm looking to build a rifle. I've always loved the 7MM STW. I had a Sendero stainless before. That's the caliber I want. What I am wanting to get input from people on is who do I use to build it with which barrel and such. I've got a 270 BDL I wanted to use the action off of if it will work. Who have y'all used and would you use them again?

Buy yourself a Cooper and save some money and get a lifetime warranty and a guaranteed 1/2 moa rifle. You will thank me later.

The 7mm stw has a different bolt face. You would be better off starting with a magnum action.

You have a budget you're trying to stay within?

My no frills build off a 700 action is gonna be around $1700 after I'm done without glass.

                Done.

Buy a donor rifle in a magnum caliber.

                Love my STW

I can't argue with this. I have a 52 Jackson Hunter in 280. It not on only meets the accuracy guarantee, but exceeds it. Mine shoots 4 factory loads in 3 different weights/bullets less to than .5" at 100 and 1.5-2" at 300 yards.

The customer service is top notch as well. Shortly after buying mine used but what appeared to be like new condition the firing pin broke. I contacted Coooer who gave me their fedex account and said send it in. I aslo asked them to repair the scratch in the bottom metal and lap the rings for me. All was done free of charge even after informing them that I wasn't the original owner.

You can do it but the bolt head will have to be replaced and the feed rails opened up to accept the larger cartridge.

If I was going to modify a doner action, I'd look into West Texas Ordinance. Trophy 8 on here has had some really good shooters built by them.

You build? What caliber options do I look like I have. I'm open to suggestions for caliber. If I could choose STW is my first.

1st off, what is your budget ??

my advice : sell your current rifle and use the funds to buy a Rem 700 magnum action rifle (7mag, 300 WM, etc..)

once you have your new rifle , sell the barrel and stock ... action will be the donor for custom build . Save the bottom metal

buy a used HS Precision stock for $225
Send action to PacNor and they will true/blueprint your action and thread, chamber, install a stainless steel select match grade barrel for $575.

Shoot "as-is" or skim bed action to stock for another $100

throw away factory trigger and buy a Jewell
