    Fees for ATV Purchase

I have been looking at getting an ATV for running around the lease and was curious about what state mandated fees (other than sales tax) there were.

I was quoted a price of $5799 with a drive out cost of $6800+. Every source I check says that the state sales tax on an ATV is 6.25% which takes the price to $6161.44. Are there other state fees or is that difference being made up by all the dealer fees?

I assume it's just tax, title, and license fees as with a car or truck. Have the seller give you an itemization. They've probably got a bunch of money makers for themselves on there.

Just tell them that the drive out price needs to be no more than $6300 or you walk. Then get up and leave. Your phone will ring shortly.

If you have some land, let them know and you get a break on the tax. At least that is what I did, but that was 10 years ago.

Not sure how far you are from Oklahoma, but I buy all my ATVs there. OK is usually cheaper, no sales tax, no title fees, no BS.

You now actually have to provide your exemption number. Works great, I gave the stealership mine and got to evade the taxes.

Got my Ranger from Alabama recently. NO fees, no taxes, but did have to pay to get it shipped.

                        Standard sales tax
                        Doc fee
                        VI tax
                        Freight
                        Setup

Standard at 99% of the dealerships, just get an ag number and knock down the tax is about all you can do! You're gonna pay the fees regardless they might lower the price to offset that costs but there gonna be in there on the sales slip

I love the setup fee. I have seen them come fully assembled in crates to the local ATV shop.

Use AG exemption no doubt and don't pay the setup fee! I didn't when I bought mine
