yes, I got one in Seymour Texas, Baylor county, while deer hunting on a friends property, and a pack of 6 of them came to a feeder, on a river bank, low fenced, a long time ago, bag limit was 2 then

I know they Are in the panhandle. King, cottle, and Foard counties all have them. I shot a handful and several lease members did too.

A javelina is a game animal on Texas. Shooting them and leaving them could earn you a waste of game ticket from a game warden.

I think they didI don't know it for a fact they did I know we have them. I think cattle brought both cactus and mesquites to Texas from Mexico

I'd heard theyre in Shackelford. We r on the north side of the Moran Hwy and was told by the rancher that the guys at 283 and south side of the Moran Hwy had seen them on their place. Pretty cool, hope someone doesn't make a mistake and think theyre shooting a pig.

Javies are good eating, barbque, guisado, jerky, it's all good. I've never thrown one away and have fed them to many people and they all wanted seconds.
I will report anyone who kills more than 2 a year or let's then lay to the warden and I have lost a few "friends" over such. They are as much a part of our ecosystem as whitetails. If you think 2 a year isn't enough, petition TPWD into increasing the bag limit, or invite people to help you thin the herd. Javies were special made for spot and stalk hunting or getting newbies on their first big game animal.

we have an annual Javi hunt at Jerry G's outside Laredo each year. I always bring home two to drop off at cinnamon creek for processing. They make good table fare if handled correctly.

As for anyone shooting a game animal and letting it lay... Well that's just pure poor hunting ethics and they need a quick kick in the taint or a nice hefty ticket form the GW!

I have shot one, after trying to eat it I have not even thought about shooting another one, we have several but do not shoot them, every now and then we have a guest that wants one to mount.

Yep! Remember... Javelina is a game animal.
When Rod shot his at Elephant Mtn. WMA, they made us gut and quarter it.
I will say we did not eat it but turning it in to dog food is not considered waste.

That being said, I was given some javelina sausage last year. I could not tell a difference between it and regular pork sausage. I'm sure it had a lot of pork in it, though.
