Im beyond ready for this cold front to get here. Too many acorns on the ground. Im ready for mother nature to take care of the problem. Hopefully she'll help me pattern my target buck a little better.

Thursday Evening (2 screwups):
1. Two and a half weeks ago, I told you that the end of October or the first of November would probably yield a cold front that would bring a widespread frost and/or freeze. The pattern was just right for it. Despite that, there was absolutely zero model support, so early last week I decided that I must be wrong, and backed off my forecast.
What a moron!
I should have trusted what I saw and not relied upon the models to dictate what I was thinking. I rarely make that mistake, but boy did I ever make it this time.
2. Earlier this week when it was clear that northern Canadian air would come into the SP, I forgot to remember my golden rule for this part of the US for Fall and Winter:
"When it comes to Siberian, Arctic, or northern Canadian cold fronts into the SP, the models are ALWAYS too warm in their forecast!"
Those of you who have followed me for several years know that I'm constantly harping on that during this time of year. That's one of the reasons I mostly beat the models and other SP forecasters. I forgot that golden rule earlier this week when I forecasted lows in the 40's over a wide area of north TX into OK, with a few 30's. Don't get me wrong......that forecast was better than everyone else's at the time, but it still wasn't cold enough, and I knew better.
Bottom Line:
Friday night will see widespread 30's for lows from central Texas into southern Oklahoma, and there will be some 20's in those same areas. The further east/northeast you go, the colder. The Red River counties of Texas should see numerous freezes over the area, and possibly further to the south. Parts of eastern OK and a large area of ARK could see temps into the teens.
There will be a wide area of 50's for highs over OK and north TX on both Fri and Sat, with some areas in eastern OK and ARK holding in the 40's for highs, if not a few 30's. North central ARK looks to be the coldest.
Rain still in the forecast next week for the SP, and I believe a more direct shot of northern Canadian air into the SP will come in another week to 2 weeks. Right now NOAA is calling for very warm temps over the US over the next 2 weeks. Not sure what they're looking at, because the pattern is gradually going to get colder. We could be getting downright frigid around Thanksgiving time! Lots of coolness before then.
