Turns out it's the pistol grip on the freaking AR.

Sounds like you need a bigger safe. Not a bad problem to have. Bigger safe = more room = more guns.

I'm in! Nothing a little mig welder won't fix!
Looks like the old AR needs to live on the other end of the safe. Some lessons are learned the hard way. Click image for larger version

Just stick the AR handle out of the hole.

Man that sucks! Almost had the same problem last night. I need to get a bigger safe really bad. Only have 1 more slot to fit a gun and I have 4 guns that aren't even in the safe because they are too big to fit.

Drill a hole in the side and use a dall rod to move the gun

need a bigger safe anyway, your guns are to close, they need room to breathe.

I've got that same Homak - always considered it more of a locking gun cabinet than a safe. I figured it would not take much work for a determined thief with the right tools to get into it and you just proved it. Oh, and I will remember to not stack my guns too close to the door!

I took a flat bar to it and it wouldn't budge. Maybe not a "safe" but a good deterrent. Keeps the kiddos out well too!
