Good luck out there. At that angle the crease behind the shoulder gets one lung at best, liver and center paunch. That means dead deer.....eventually.

Was thinking the same thing on a quarter to that is farther back than it needs to be. I just can't believe it took till post 44 for it to be mentioned.

Man, we've all been there. Part of it. I promise, it will make a better bow hunter out of you. A lost buck will result in more careful, planned shots in the future. Still, it can happen.

Back at home, guys thank you for the positive advise. No offense taken to the comment, I plan to continue looking for this deer. I will be back up tomorrow afternoon looking for buzzards, if nothing else I will tag just the head if I can turn that up. It is a gut wrenching feeling right now knowing that I killed a beautiful buck and didn't recover him. I want to thank Jeff and his son for taking so much time out if their day today and bringing the dogs out. Again thank you guys, I guess you can't win them all.

I would venture to guess that most of us have lost some sleep over a deer. Me included more than once. Don't give up. Take some practice shots to build your confidence. Relax and make a better shot next time.

I am confident in my shot, I hit exactly where I aimed. Hind sight I shouldn't have taken the quartering to shot. I know I hit my mark, and i know that deer is dead. It just sucks that he didn't bleed. Somehow he spit the arrow and didn't bleed.

It happens. Don't beat yourself up about it. Depending on the shot, the buck might have lived.

Can't tell you how many people I have tracked for that were just as sure as you are about the shot only to get the deer back on camera.

I admire the effort you put into finding this deer, that is what we are supposed to do.

But if the team of dogs didn't find him you won't either, sit back and watch for buzzards and watch your cams......I have a feeling you will see thus deer again.
