Struck the Feeder pen

We have shot our hog panels several times when rifle hunting, especially at night. Almost always causes a missed shot and ricochet (even hit my feeder once). We have taken bolt cutters and cut out much of the wire leaving much larger holes in the hog panel to shoot through, but still enough to keep cows and calves out. It seems to have helped us some but didn't completely eliminate the problem. I do not have any panels or fencing around my bow feeder.

I feel your pain, I hit a t-post many years ago from 200 yards with a 300wm. I didn't realize it at the time and since I saw the deer go down, I went after it shortly after the shot. Well, he got up and ran off so I then backed out and gave him some time.
I then went to examine the area trying to figure out what went wrong and that's when I noticed the Half Moon chunk missing from the t-post. I had been so focused on the shot that I didn't notice the post. I never found that deer so I have no idea how or where he was hit.

Don't post much but this seems like a fitting place for my story of the only deer I've ever killed with my bow. I hunt out of a cattle panel blind that's inside my feed pen and I had worn a head lamp that clips onto the bill of my hat. When I got to the blind that morning, I took the head lamp off and for some reason, clipped it onto the sleeve of my shirt (long sleeve shirt so it was clipped on right at my left wrist). A doe came in and I decided to shoot her. When I released, my string hit the head lamp that was clipped onto my sleeve which shot it into the blind and broke into several pieces. My arrow flew way left of where I was aiming and hit a t-post used to anchor the feeder leg. It glanced off the t-post breaking one of the blades off a 3 blade muzzy but directed it right back into the doe. It hit her perfect and she ran about 60 yards and was done. I would have missed her by a foot if I hadn't hit the t-post. Crazy story but true.

It just wasn't her day, was it?

I felt great about the shot placement but we looked all over for 2 hours that night and never found any sign of a hit...no hair no blood, nothing. I was beside myself that night. The next morning we went back and walked the entire area again and only when I went back to refill the feeder did a buddy of mine see the t-post. The bullet must have fragmented b/c we saw evidence of where a cedar tree had been scraped with small pieces of shavings. I must have really peppered that deer and never saw him again.
For years some of the other hunters on the lease ragged me over my t-post buck. One year one of them even wired a buck skeleton they had found to the t-post. Wish I would have taken a picture of the dang thing. Funny now...not then.
