I'm near ponotoc/llano and sat in the stand last night and had 4 does after acorns and weren't really interested in the feeder like they normally are. Wind was not in my favor so I was ok with it. It was a quiet sit and with the wind, it kept the Mosquitos away.
This morning I had does blowing like crazy. But they were upwind so I was a bit confused. Then I see a boar coming in. He was pretty skiddish but after 30 min of carefully examining the place he made his way to the feeder. With the wind the way it was I didn't let him hang out for too long before flinging an arrow. Felt good about the shot, then saw sparks and the arrow kick up. I hit the top wire on the feeder pen.
He ran about twenty yds and stopped to see what happened. I let another go, but misjudged the distance. Shot went right under him and there went mr pig.
Pretty ticked about it. Did the same thing on my last hunt last year. Missed a boar by hitting the same wire. Needless to say, that wire is gone.
I guess I could have waited for a little more light. I also figured what are the odds of me hitting it.
Any of you guys done the same thing?
