No one asked for reasons why anyone limits or bans alcohol on their lease.
Heck, no one asked if alcohol was banned on their lease.
If some people don't drink while hunting, their answer should've have been no.
The "I'm better than you because I don't drink" answers were not asked for and have no place on this thread.
Start a new thread about deer camp problems.
It seems there are always people ready to turn just about any thread negative.
The OP asked a yes/no question. Either answer it with a yes or no, or hit the back button.
There is no reason to start posting extreme cases that are irrelevant to the yes/no question that was asked.
Can excessive drinking lead to bad things?
Of course, but that is not the topic of this thread.

Five posts after the one you quoted of mine, I explained what I meant.
Hardly anyone answers with a simple yes or no. This is a discussion forum, that's the way it is.
My point was people talking about stuff that has no relevance to the original question, just like your example of someone swinging low and hitting you with bird shot or the people talking about drunk driving.
I'd be willing to bet that the idiot who shot you, would've done so without the beer. Idiots are going to be idiots. I will concede that alcohol can sometimes make them bigger idiots though.

No worries.
You definitely were not the only one derailing this thread with stories of camp drunks.
Someone should start a thread about deer camp horror stories.

You guys have had some horrible experiences. Instead of blaming drinkers maybe yall should look at the "friends" yall hang with. I'm would consider myself a drinker as well as all of my friends. I hunt on my own land with family and friends. Never have we ever had an issue with idiots and let me tell you we do some SERIOUS drinking. Never cuss around ladies or kids. Maybe the problem is a serious lack of respect to yall by your friends. Just my opinion...it doesn't mean much.Last edited by Marco; 10-12-2014, 08:12 PM.

I still drink, though not near as much as in my younger days.
There were always a guy or two at every pasture party, campfire, whatever, that couldn't handle his alcohol and would turn into a complete a-hole when drunk. Those same guys usually weren't much better when sober though.
You learn to weed those types of people out of your social groups.
Deer leases/camps are no different.
Weed out the problem people and you'll have a lot less problems.

I would have never guessed so many drink while hunting. I for one don't drink at all anymore, but I dang sure don't care to be around alcohol and guns at the same time, but I understand I am different that some. I mean for me, I can't see why people ever feel like they "need a drink" as I see my friends post that on FB all the time, I used to say it myself, never really meaning it, but I believe most that say it actually feel that way. I have never felt I "needed" a drink. Maybe that's why I don't "need" to drink while hunting also.
